Episode 022: What Doctors Don’t Tell You About HPV

featuring Courtney Miller & Kate Orson

January is cervical health awareness month. Every year approximately 14 million women are diagnosed with HPV. For many, this comes along with an abnormal Pap Smear and concerns about pre-cancerous changes to the cervix. It’s a frightening experience. The treatments offered for cervical dysplasia are invasive and can put future fertility at risk. In this episode, join my guests and I discuss how we addressed our abnormal Pap Smears.

Courtney Miller took a natural approach to heal her cervix, while Kate Orson followed her doctor’s advice and had unexpected side effects which persist over 14 years later. Inspired by their experiences to educate other women about the risks and alternatives to standard treatments for the problems caused by HPV, each created their own Facebook group to provide a safe place to discuss HPV and heal from the stigma and shame associated with an HPV infection. Tune in to discover what doctors don’t tell you about HPV or the treatments used to address it.

Courtney Miller started her health coaching business, Shine Light Heath, five years ago to help women with HPV find their own ways to clearing HPV naturally. After her own 7 year journey with HPV, she found her way to healing and has made it her mission to help other women do the same. She encourages women to inform themselves, explore their options and try natural diet and lifestyle changes to help the body clear the virus naturally. She is also the founder and administrator of Empower and Shine, a Facebook support group that creates a community of women who support and encourage one another while helping to reduce the stigma and shame related to HPV.
